4 Steps to End Self-Sabotage

Isn’t it annoying when we block ourselves and self-sabotage our own happiness?

Today I want to share with you:
– What self-sabotage is
– How it happens and how to resolve the inner conflict
– 4 steps to stop sabotaging yourself so you can live your highest life.

When there is self-sabotage there is always an inner conflict. Part of you wants something (a successful career, a loving relationship, inner peace) but another part of you blocks it. This part of you is probably scared and trying to protect you from being hurt, from failure or from being out of your comfort zone. Maybe that part of yourself doesn’t believe that you are worthy of that success or maybe she believes that it is not possible for you.

When we resolve this inner conflict, self-sabotage stops.

So this is how to end self-sabotage in 4 simple steps:

1. No judgement

If you are aware of any form of self-sabotage, that is great news! Because once you are aware of something you can heal it and change it. The parts of ourselves that block our joy and success are normally younger part of ourselves that carry some form of fear, trauma or negative belief they developed to survive. So be kind yo yourself and treat yourself with love and compassion

2. Ask yourself: What is the benefit or secondary gain tht I get from sabotaging myself?

There is always a benefit, even this might sounds really annoying. By benefit I don’t mean something that we experience as positive but something we gain. For example, sabotaging yourself from getting a promotion might protect you from having too much responsibility or being too exposed. Sabotaging yourself from finding a wonderful partner might mean that you don’t risk getting hurt and that you don’t have to commit long term. Keep in mind that we do this unconsciously based on our subconscious beliefs and stories, so again, no judgement here!

3. What part of yourself is scared or doesn’t believe you deserve your goals?

Let them both (the part of you that wants soemthing and the part that blocks it) have a dialogue. Give space to the part of yourself that holds the fear, the doubts, the lack of confidence, the negative past experiences express herself. When you give her the attention she needed in the first place, she won’t need to get the attention by sabotaging your life.

4. How can you get the same benefit without blocking yourself?

Back to the idea of the secondary gains when we sabotage oursleves, once you know what the ‘benefit’ is, you can think of ways to get this benefit in a healthy way, without having to limit yourself.

For example if you feel like you are blocking your realtionships to avoid being hurt, you could work on how to find the right partner, or develop the belief that no matter what happens you will have the resources to deal with it.
