In this new episode of The Positive Mindset Tribe I will be sharing why to create a future you love you have to break free from the conditioning of the past and how to do it.

When we come here to this world we bring a set of innate talents to share, we are born with our soul’s essence, the qualities that make us unique and we come here with a purpose.

But we are exposed to so much programming, which starts with our parents and their beliefs system, school, TV, commercials, friends, social media…
Some of what we absorb and we learn is useful but A LOT OF IT is just our parental figures or ‘authority roles’ programming us to become what they expect us to be.

So in the process of growing up we lose a lot of that essence we carry with us and instead of connecting with who we truly are, we are bombarded with messages that keep us small and shape us into what others wants us to be.

And eventually you might find yourself in a situation where you know you are not happy, you know you don’t feel fulfilled or you don’t have any motivation cause you don’t even know who you truly are anymore!

Hello my beautiful souls and welcome to another episode of The Positive Mindset Tribe!

In this episode I will be sharing why to create a future you love you have to break free from the conditioning of the past and how to do it.

When we come here to this world we bring a set of innate talents to share, we are born with our soul’s essence, the qualities that make us unique. We come here with a purpose, whether that’s making an impact on other’s people lives through our work, in our community, in our family, or maybe the theme for this life is to learn a big lesson that we still need to learn.

So our soul has that essence, and when we are born that’s what we bring with us.

But we are exposed to so much programming, which starts with our parents and their beliefs system, school, TV, commercials, friends, social media…

Some of what we absorb and we learn is useful but  A LOT OF IT, actually I would say most of it , is limiting. It is our parental figures or ‘authority roles’ programming us to become what they expect us to be. An obedient student who parrots the lesson, a good girl that keeps daddy happy and proud by not being herself, a good citizen believing blindly what the government says, defining what’s an acceptable behaviour and what it is not.

So in the process of growing up we lose a lot of that essence we carry with us which I think is really really sad. Instead of connecting with you we truly are, and dedicating our life to fulfilling our purpose, we are encouraged, bombarded I would say! with messages that keep us small that shape us into what others wants us to be.

And eventually you might find yourself in a situation where you know you are not happy, you know you don’t feel fulfilled, you don’t have any motivation cause you don’t even know who you truly are anymore.

So if this what you feel right now, stuck, frustrated, unfulfilled, demotivated, lacking direction, lacking motivation or just disconnected from yourself, like your life doesn’t feel authentic and aligned with your true self, or maybe like you are living the life that others expect you to live instead of one that feels right for you, this episode is for you.

Right, so let’s start with how the past shaped the person you are today.

I know a lot of people think that whatever happened in their past, they are over it, and they are a new person, and that your past experiences are part of the past and they don’t have any impact on who you are today, but this is not the case and it is so dangerous to think this way!

Imagine yourself like a piece of clay when you come to this world. And you are supposed to become a certain type of master piece that reflects your soul essence. But in the process of parenting and schooling, and being part of a community, a society, every parental figure will try to mold that piece of clay in a certain way. Sometimes it might be respecting your essence, but very often they will try to mold you to create a piece THEY like. On top of that, we face challenges, painful situations and each one leaves an ‘indentation’ in that piece of clay. Maybe a crack. Sometimes it breaks and we need to rebuild it from scratch.

Now this doesn’t mean that you can’t break the mold, that you can’t change the shape you have today, of course you can. But it normally takes active inner work to fix those indentations, to repair those crack lines. To assess if that is the mold we want to grow into or if our authentic self needs a different mold to express itself fully, to realise its full potential, to create the masterpiece you came here to be. And there is no point denying that that piece of clay hasn’t been affected at all by your past experiences. A part of it will store useful information, I’m sure that piece of clay also stores values you learnt from your parents, love and bonding, manners, positive beliefs about yourself and others.

So I am not saying that everything we carry form the past negative, I’m just saying that the shape of our piece of clay today carries a lot from the past, whether we like it or not. And our job today, if we want to make sure we get closer and closer to that masterpiece that reflects our true self, is to assess what parts of the piece of clay are showing who you truly and which ones are part of a program that is taking you away from your purpose. Because we will be work in progress until the day we die. And every day that passes by, with the decisions we make, the actions we take, the thought we repeat to ourselves we are reshaping that piece of clay. Every second, we are changing that piece of clay, everything we do, say and think has a consequence.

And if you think about this piece of clay that you are shaping as the life you are creating, then you need to decide if what is creating your life is a program from the past or a decision that is aligned with your soul’s purpose, with your true essence.

So first of all I’m going to invite you to think what that clay masterpiece looks like for you. You can take a few moments to close your eyes and visualise that masterpiece. What your essence looks like when you put it in a 3d form.  And if you think about this masterpiece as your life, what do you see in your life when you are authentic, when you are showing your values, when you follow your soul’s calling, whatever it is.

So now I want to share with you a step by step process to break free from the conditioning of the past so you can create a life that feels right for you.

1.Identify any programming that goes against creating your masterpiece. For these my friends, I’m sorry to be the one to tell you but there is no quick fix. This a process and it will take time. The way I like to think about it is that healing the past happens in layers. And every layer counts! So maybe you have identified something that is holding you back but you know that there are many other things you need to heal, well celebrate every single win, and take the layers one at a time. So yeah, realising all the layers that we have put on ourselves, ALL the programming, every single limiting belief, healing every single wound is the work of a lifetime, so don’t despair, wherever you are at. But every single pattern or way of programming you become aware of, heal and let go of is a huge achievement!

I have been experimenting lately with some gem elixirs that my husband has been making which are ridiculously powerful, there will be available in goldenageremedies.com soon so keep an eye on this site, but anyway, the point is that they work on a subtle, energetic level and I have experienced a lot of energy moving inside me, blocks being released, and emotions and memories coming to my awareness, deep fears that I thought I was over with. And I got a bit disappointed because I thought I had healed all the layers of my parents divorce when I was very young but I was aware of a new layer, a deeper fear that I wasn’t aware of before. And I thought how is it possible that after 10 or 15 years of working on myself I keep finding new thing I need to heal?! But obviously the deeper a wound is the longer it will take to heal. So I just have to accept with self-love and compassion that this is the journey I’m in and that I will be a continuous work in progress, there will always be another layer to unravel, a deeper crack in the clay that was so hidden that I wasn’t able to see until now, but that’s fine. I’m sharing this because a lot of people when they start working on themselves they can get overwhelmed with all the things that come up for them, but if you are at this point right now, that is great, it means you are not stagnant! That is the worst place to be in, being stagnant, not moving, not growing. You have a long list of limiting beliefs to work on? Perfect! You are in control and you will tackle them one by own, at your own pace. But you are taking action, which is much better than being oblivious and not realising that your chunk of clay is being shaped by the programs of the past.

So one thing I’m going to suggest is to spend some time on self-reflection and ask yourself the following questions:

What are the main beliefs/values of my parental figures? How have they shaped my chunk of clay? Is the mold aligned with my authentic self? What have caused indentations, cracks or holes in my piece of clay? How have they affected the shape of it? Am I repeating any patterns from my ancestors? When the inner critic kicks in, does it sounds like something someone used to tell me? How is all this stopping me from creating the live I truly want to live?

2.Rediscover your authentic self. The last question is probably key, because sometimes the problem is that we are so caught up in the rat race, so distracted with tv, social media and other poisons for the mind, we have take on so much programming that we don’t even know who we truly are anymore! And I know exactly how this feels, and if you are feeling this way trust me there is a way out! I remember when I was working in the corporate world I felt so empty, so unfulfilled. But that was what I had programmed myself to become, a successful corporate woman with a huge salary and important position. I had been preparing myself for this all my life, school, uni, my first jobs, that was all I had in mind. And when I realised that this wasn’t making me happy, that I felt so empty, I thought right, I definitely need a change, but I had no idea what I wanted to do instead! Literally no idea! I had been programmed all my life to get a good job in a big company to have financial stability, that was the shape of my piece of clay. But every time I thought well, what am I going to do instead? I know this is not for me, but what is? And it was very overwhelming and I felt very empty like I had no idea of who I was, it was very disheartening. And it took time for me to find myself. To remove all those layers and find what was there buried deep inside, my true self, my essence. I wish I had asked for helped earlier and I had done coaching or therapy before cause it would have saved me so much time and frustration!

So for this you are also going to need to spend some time on self-reflection, asking yourself: What are my true values? What are my innate talents? When have I been the happiest in my life? When (if ever) have I flowed with life? Inner child work is key here, reconnecting with that younger part of yourself – what did she enjoy doing? What did she want to be when she grew up? What could she do for hours and lose track of time?

Think of who you really admire and why, what about their lives. What makes your heart sing?

Take a few minutes every day to bring your awareness to your heart and listen to your heart’s desires. Do some meditation to quiet the mind, don’t ask the logical mind, the mind has all the programs! Ask the heart, your soul, quiet your mind and go deep within and listen to yourself.

3.Grow your confidence to make new decisions that will lead you to a joyful and fulfilling life

Right, so we have one side of the healing process which is breaking free from the conditioning from the past, we have the other side of the work which is rediscovering your true self, your purpose, but in order to make that clay a masterpiece, you are going to have to make important decisions. You might have to breakup with that person who doesn’t value and supports your growth, you might need to find a new job and start a business, you might need to start taking care of yourself more, you might need to travel for a bit to reconnect with yourself. And some of these things might go against what your family had planned for you. You might start behaving in a way your friends are not used to, if you set boundaries, if you take on new hobbies. And they are not gonna like it. And subconsciously, they will try to stop you, cause this is human nature: we don’t like change. And if someone in the tribe is changing, it’s risky for the tribe so it needs to be kept under controlled.

This is something very common I hear all the time from the clients I work with: I don’t resonate with my old friends anymore, my family is not supporting my growth. It’s not that they don’t want to help you , it’s that you are growing, changing, and they are not, so you are not in the same vibration anymore.

For me, the moment when I realised that I wasn’t living an authentic life, was when I moved to London in 2015 and took myself out of my routine. You don’t need to go to a different country to figure out your life, but sometimes a conscious holiday, a bit of time off, a change of scenery for the day can be really helpful. Not only to get clarity but because with these little steps you will feel more and more empowered, more in control of your life.

Every time you do something out of your comfort zone, you’re building your confidence, every decision you make where you push through resistance and just do it, you step more into your power.

Believing in yourself is a decision you have to make and only you can make this decision. Journaling and affirmation are very useful for this purpose, write a list of new empowering beliefs about yourself and read them out loud every day. Now I’m not going to say that they are magical, without the healing and clearing of limiting beliefs, you can say as many affirmations as you like, your subconscious mind will just reject them, but affirmations combined with  healing  are really powerful and a great way to reconnect you with your inner talents and build confidence.
